FAQ

  • Who are Specialised Laser Systems
Specialised Laser Systems are a UK based manufacturing and engineering company founded in 2023. Specialised has extensive expertise in the design and engineering of electro-mechanical products, with two laser cutting/engraving systems being our main product range. Our machines are ideal for education, being easy-to-use, robust and safe.
  • Where are our products manufactured?
Our entire product range is manufactured in Aylesford, United Kingdom with the design and engineering also being based in the UK. This allows us to adapt quickly to changing customer needs and reduces our carbon footprint as we no not ship in large pieces of machinery from around the globe.
  • What are our unique features?
Apart from being built in the UK, our machines offer unrivalled safety, meeting all UKCA safety standards, are built tough to withstand even the harshest of industrial environments, feature industry-leading functionality as well as being easy and intuitive to use. The Solo range offers Auto-Focus, Direct Printing and Air assist as standard. A datasheet for the Solo Range can be downloaded from our homepage.
  • What laser is the best choice for my business?
We always recommend contacting your authorised dealer to discuss machine requirements, however generally, the lower wattage RF driven laser sources are the best for high-speed engraving and intricate work in delicate materials, whilst the higher power DC based machines are best for the cutting of thick materials.
  • Why do I need a Print Driver?
A printer driver, is a virtual "printer" which allows users of the laser system to send designs directly from their graphical design software without exporting files or cross-converting file types. Specialised also offers direct importation of various file types, as this can often be more convenient and allows for the maximum fidelity of vectors.
  • What is Air-Assist?
Air assist is the term used for the internally routed air flow componentry within the laser system; Air is sent at pressure into the lenses of the laser cutting system, which produces a protective "shroud" of air. This air is then blow onto the workpiece to avoid combustion and create a cleaner cut. All Specialised systems have an integrated and automatically regulated air supply system meaning no external components are required.
  • I have seen various laser systems, what's so good about Specialised?
We create machinery that is reliable and feature rich, without the need for continual servicing and recalibration. Simply put, your business (or classroom) can rely on our equipment which is ready to work when needed. Our machines offer excellent value for money, and are dependable.
  • What's the difference between RF and DC lasers?
RF and DC lasers are both CO2 devices operating at 10.6um wavelength. RF based machines are sealed-off all metal devices offering high switching speeds which make them ideal for engraving and cutting of extremely intricate materials at micron-level precision. DC tubes offer high power output meaning maximum cutting capability can be achieved in a cost effective package, however as their switching speed is slower, they are no as suited to highly intricate engraving. All Specialised machines are Air-Cooled without the need for external water supplies or "chillers".
  • What warranty do you offer?
The Solo range is supplied as standard with a 12 month return-to-base warranty. This can be extended to 24 months, with many of our dealers offering on-site servicing and support.
